Dental Hygiene for Children, Ottawa Dentist

How often should my child have oral hygiene appointments?

We recommend that a child visits our office once every six months for their routine hygiene appointments. Depending on your child's oral health and maintenance, the dentist may provide another recommendation for visits.

What will happen during my child's hygiene appointment?

During your child’s appointment we will provide a variety of preventative services, teeth cleaning and education to help your child maintain oral health for life. The following are some of the things we might happen at an appointment:

  • Our hygienists clean your child's teeth to remove any plaque or build up.
  • We also treat the teeth with fluoride to strengthen them and make them more resistant to tooth decay. We recommend cleaning and fluoride treatments twice per year to prevent decay.
  • Prevention is a vital part of our children's oral health so we provide essentials for home dental care, such as brushing techniques.
